GrandeOmega is born out of the wish to improve the diffusion of programming skills among students coming out of higher education institutions.
This wish was found, at the same time but for different reasons, in two people who got the chance to work together: Giuseppe Maggiore and Marijn Bom. Giuseppe had just begun working as CTO for Marijn's company, Hoppinger, after a long career exclusively working in academia. Both lamented the poor preparation of most recent graduates, noticing that they either lacked strong theoretical foundations ("I do it because I have always done it so, and it seems to work") or they lacked practical understanding ("I know the theory but I have never actually done it").
From this feeling of frustration the two decided to take the matter in their own hands, and to study the problem from three perspectives: academic, industrial, and entrepreneurial.
